Spineless Treasurer Andrew Fraser has failed to stand up for Queensland while Labor's carbon tax has costed our state a $1.1 billion write-down in electricity generator assets, the State Opposition said today.
LNP Shadow Minister for Energy and Water Utilities Steve Dickson said Andrew Fraser had already flogged off over $15 billion worth of Queenslanders' assets and had now cost us another $1.1 billion in lost value due to his cowardly failure to stand up to his Labor mates in Canberra.
"Andrew Fraser has been one of the gleeful cheerleaders for Labor's carbon tax and it has now cost each and every Queenslander a write-down of $1.1 billion on our electricity assets," Mr Dickson said.
"Australia's Worst Treasurer has once again squandered the value of Queensland's assets with his incompetence and gross economic mismanagement."
Mr Dickson said the annual reports of the State Government's electricity-generating companies tabled late Friday afternoon showed losses of almost $1.1 billion last financial year, mostly due to the Federal Labor government's carbon tax.
"Queenslanders want a state government that will stand up for their interests, not lie down for Labor in Canberra," Mr Dickson said.
"These are assets that belong to each and every Queenslander and the Bligh government has completely devalued them in pursuit of Greens preferences.
I call on Andrew Fraser to put down his pom-poms and pick up the phone to the Federal Government and tell them Queensland will not be supporting Labor's job destroying and economically damaging carbon tax.
The LNP opposes the carbon tax and we will fight Labor all the way.
Only a CanDo LNP Government will stick up for Queensland and get our economy back on track," he said.
