The Sunshine Coast Concert Band again featured at the annual LEGACY Remembrance Day Concert which was held on Saturday 5th November 2011. This year's event attracted a crowd of approximately 700.
The theme this year was VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC and tunes included a "South Pacific" medley of songs and notably the Army, Navy and AirForce theme songs.
Selections were played from the Big Band era of Swing and Jazz, along with sentimental favourites and war time songs, accompanied by power point presentations of vintage footage.
Of special interest was a vocal and instrumental presentation of the "Captives' Hymn" which was written by Margaret Dryburgh and sung by the women held in captivity on the island of Sumatra in 1942.
Ken Chadwick OAM is the Music Director of this talented band and the audience were invited to singalong with singers Bev Gourlay and Aart Schouten.
The event also featured a pre-concert musical performance by students from Maroochydore State High School.
This concert was organised by the S.C. Legacy group and all proceeds will be directed to their local support activities.
