Member for Buderim Steve Dickson is absolutely appalled by the intention of Sunshine Coast Regional Council to re-introduce parking meters around Nambour Hospital.
“Of all the places the council should be looking for cash cows, around a public hospital isn’t one of them,” Mr Dickson said.
He added, “There are mainly two types of people who park around Nambour Hospital. They are either staff, who we know still aren’t being paid properly by Queensland Health, but the ones I’m most concerned about are the visitors of patients in the hospital.”
“They’ve got sick and injured relatives in there, and that patient may indeed be the bread winner of the family. So the last thing they need is another cost from this council. “
“If they want to put parking meters down by the beach and let the tourists take their chances, that’s up to Mayor Abbot and the rest of council, but don’t inflict any more pain on the people visiting loved ones in Nambour Hospital. They’ve got enough to worry about,” Mr Dickson said.
